Origin and distribution
First grown in the USA in 1890, Red (Stark) Delicious was introduced into Europe in 1914, where it found a particularly favourable growing environment in the Val di Non.

“five-point base” and smooth, waxy peel.
Picking
between September 10-20 in mountain orchards, 10-15 days earlier in low-lying areas.
Availability
from October to June.
